a little homework. [conclusion]

“We have to win something,” Abby kept whispering to herself, twisting her wedding ring around her finger like she always does when she’s nervous.
“…and finally the award for the best over all planned yearbook goes too…”  The loud speaker system made the words echo around the ballroom filled with at least twenty two different high schools hoping to hear their name.  Jami grabbed my hand, I grabbed Quinci’s, and she linked arms with Cody.
“The best over all planned yearbook goes to…American Fork High School!”  Five screams overpowered all the groans of disappointment.  Hand in hand, we took the stage and our award.  We couldn’t get over the fact that we had just won, making this the fifth year in a row.  We hadn’t let the legacy down and had showed that we could be awesome.  As we got back on the bus, clutching the shiny plaque, we smiled at all the memories of all the blood, sweat, and tears that we had put in for that moment.  It was worth not talking to any other schools for the extra edge it gave us.  Winning made not trying out my new flirting skills to get a free ride on the Alpine Slide okay.  It was worth everything to shine.
