Driving isn’t my best ability. Back home, my huge Bronco was a warning sign to all that I was approaching. Hot and dangerous. But here, I drive an inconspicuous little caramel brown four-door mom-mobile.
I was running late. I went to lunch with my sister and a few other people and didn’t realize the time. I excused myself to go take a test and got into my, for now, car. I began navigating around the busy streets, trying to take a short-cut that I somewhat know of.
Mistake.
I took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up on the freeway to Mesquite and my test was starting in ten minutes.
I thought to myself that I couldn’t flip a U-ie on the freeway, that’s somewhat frowned upon. I kept on driving. I took the first exit I could and called my sister.
“WOMAN! I’m lost!”
“Meg. How could you be lost! We were right by school!”
“I’m lost. I just got off the freeway.”
“Going north?”
“GOING SOUTH! My test is in ten minutes. Heelp mee!”
“Calm yourself. What landmarks are you by, I’ll come find you.”
I looked around; randomly turning at stop signs didn’t help me to recognize anything.
“I’m by a…. really big tree and a…. church! It’s one of our peoples.”
“That’s helpful… what exit did you take?”
“I. Don’t. Know. Five minutes!”
I took another random turn and to my amazement I was at the stoplight right by campus.
“I AM FOUND!”
Only I could hop in my car to go take a test and end up on the freeway to Mesquite.
How was your day?
