Dear Mr. E.E. Cummings,
I’ve loved you for awhile now, ever since my awesome sophomore English teacher gave me a copy of one of your books, but I’d never heard this poem before. It was quoted in Charlie St. Cloud and I fell in love. It’s beautiful.
I feel like saying too much will taint its beauty, that my words shouldn’t be anywhere near those of E.E. Cummings. So I’m going to let things be. Ah. I love to just listen and be still sometimes. I drive with my windows down and radio off just to hear the rain sometimes. Like right now, all I can hear is the delightful sound of clicking, the nighttime crickets, and my fan. Forget the noise and drama and just read this, okay?
With love,
Megan Rose.
"Dive for Dreams" by E.E. Cummings
dive for dreams
or a slogan may topple you
(trees are their roots
and wind is wind)
trust your heart
if the seas catch fire
(and live by love
though the stars walk backward)
honour the past
but welcome the future
(and dance your death
away at this wedding)
never mind a world
with its villains or heroes...
dive for dreams
or a slogan may topple you
(trees are their roots
and wind is wind)
trust your heart
if the seas catch fire
(and live by love
though the stars walk backward)
honour the past
but welcome the future
(and dance your death
away at this wedding)
never mind a world
with its villains or heroes...
